Solar Power: San Diego, worth it?

Posted

I am looking to increase the cash flow of my Quadplex in North Park, San Diego. The energy bill is quite high and I have been considering installing solar to offset some of the costs. I am going to do the actual bath behind the cost difference to determine ROI but I am looking for general advise. Will this increase the value of the property in terms of appraisal, would you recommend a particular company, etc. Thanks so much !

@Christian Johnston - Yes owning the Solar Panels will add value, leasing solar panels may do the opposite. I had an appraiser call me out of the blue last week to asked me about a sold listing's solar panels being owned or lease because he was using it as a comp for an appraisal.

I would research and use a reputable company that has been in business for some time, and will continue to be, with a good warranty. So in case you do need to use the warranty they will still be in business. With an electrical vehicle solar makes a lot more sense. I would also start to consider updating water heaters, wall heaters, and what else that makes sense to electrical instead of gas. So you get the most out of you panals.
