New investor trying to rent out primary residence.

I’m gaging the forum to see if anyone has rented out their primary living and how you guys did it. Should I get a multi family like a duplex or rent out rooms in a single family home. I’m in the military and have access to va loans.

Have you purchased a primary residence yet? Where are you located?

The VA loan is an awesome tool to help veterans acquire an appreciating asset with very little money out of pocket. If you are willing to, I would use the VA loan to purchase a property that has a additional unit you can rent out (detached guest suite, apartment above garage, or duplex..). Rent that extra unit out on Airbnb and then live in the main house. If you really want to have the property make money for you, rent out the bedrooms in the main house that you are living in.
