Thoughts on getting a real estate coach?

What are the quickest ways to learn?  I am thinking of the coaching route.  What is the typical cost for this approach?

Do you recommend it?

@Audrey Burke I think coaching can be well worth it but I have a biased opinion. I have both received paid coaching and I have provided coaching for a fee. These are things I would encourage you to think about if you are considering paying for coaching.

1. Do you have enough money over and above the coaching fee to put it to work in acquiring real estate? If you don’t, unless your coaching is limited to doing a door knocking approach or cold calling, then coaching is probably not a good fit for you right now.

2. What is your learning style? Do you learn significantly better with someone there with you or could you do just as well through reading, listening to podcasts, or through asking questions on the forums? If you can learn just as good through cheaper means, then go the cheaper rout.

3. Do you know which specific area of real estate you are interested in? Coaches vary in their expertise. I would only encourage you to get coaching from someone who is an expert in the specific type of real estate you want to learn. If you are unsure which niche, then continue learning and searching for one that fits the lifestyle you want.

4. Don’t sign up for coaching unless you are ready and willing to do the work. Most people who complain about real estate coaching (unless the coaching was a complete sham) are the ones who don’t put in the work. They drop 5, 10, or 20 grand and they think they should automatically get someone who is going to do all the work to make them a millionaire and they can just sit back and enjoy the ride. If this is your mindset, then coaching is not for you.

5. If you are in a good financial position, with good credit, and cash to spend on coaching, with enough left over to immediately put to work, and you’re willing to do the work, and you just want someone there to guide you and to shorten your learning curve and help you maximize your efforts, then coaching could help you reach your goals faster than without coaching.

After asking yourself these questions, you should better know if coaching would be helpful for you right now or not.
