Credit repair advice for first time buyer

I'm trying to prepare myself for pre-qualification and hopefully purchase of my first investment property in 2 yrs time using conventional bank financing to make the most of my W2 job. I'm pretty new to all this so I just really need some direction and or advice. Thanks I advance
