Military Members That Invest In Real Estate

Hi everyone,

I'm an Air National Guardsmen with 11 years in, two deployments, a ton of TDY's, currently serving in Montana as a recruiter with a Structures AFSC. That being said my main focus for retirement is in real estate and my Thrift Savings Program (TSP).

Before I go further I'd like to ask that this discussion thread be strictly for uplifting and to help raise a generation of financially aware airmen, corpsman, sailors, and soldiers.

My favorite stories I've heard on the BiggerPockets podcasts are when military members take advantage of each time they get stationed to a new part of the world and decide to invest there in those communities.  Some buying duplexes at every station, some taking their time to better and flip homes, but all were inspirational to hear.

I've created this discussion to further hear the positive stories of service members that actively invest in real estate.  Hopefully, when other military members see these stories and creative ideas they will decide to educate themselves further and take the plunge for themselves.  Remember, just because sometimes bad things happened in those experiences it doesn't make the learning from them negative, it just showed another way we are to overcome those issues.

@Corey Stubbs Love the idea of this thread. As a fellow Air Guardsman in SC and former AD Airman in GA and ND I just recently purchased my first House Hack with the VA loan (this month). Have you looked at the Active Duty Passive Income group on Facebook? It's a great community of veterans focused on helping each other and sharing strategies specific to the military community.
