I'm quarantined! Should I take my real estate class online?
Hi everyone,
As we all know this Coronavirus has had a major impact on our daily routine. Especially for me; a bar manager living in Buffalo,New York. Since I am out of work, I'm thinking about taking a online course to obtain my real estate license. I planned on taking the in-person course in late spring, but I might as well take advantage of this extra free time!
Questions I have on this matter:
Online versus classroom?
What is the best online course for New York?
How long it will take online?
Tips on taking the online course?
Also more importantly I hope everyone is staying safe out there, be smart and stay home!!

Hey Brandon,
I did online and it was fine. I was bored out of my mind at times but I got to do it from the comfort of my backyard on my own time.
It took me about 5-6 weeks but if you're doing little else other than taking the course while home, you can be done in 1-2 weeks.
My tips on taking the course would be to take down any notes as you go along the course so that you highlight anything that seems important or needs further research.
Another tip would be to set time blocks for you to get this done during the day. Include time for breaks so that your eyes don't dry out in front of the computer!
Lastly, I'd recommend the following books:
Millionaire Real Estate Agent by Gary Keller - very practical book. Gary helps everything make sense by reverse engineering the goal of $1M income and getting that goal chopped down to actionable and measurable steps.
The E-Myth by Michael Gerber- Highly recommended no matter what type of business you’re looking to begin - RE Investing, construction, development, property management, etc. My main takeaway, treat RE sales like a business, not a job. Anyone can open a door to show a house. Thats a job. Learn the business, take the necessary action each day to work ON the business as well as IN the business.
Best of luck to you moving forward!
Abel
