Need advice on from people!

Hello everyone,

I am Johan Annema, a 21 year old guy from The Netherlands and I am very new to real estate investing. I just finished the book from Bigger Pockets; The book on rental property investing by Brandon Turner. I am working as a truck driver and am able to save around €1700 euros on average per month and I could buy a property within a year. My goal is to eventually quit my job and be able to travel the world through (semi)passive income through the rental properties. Now I am torn between 2 ideas which I thought some people on this forum might have some advice about. In the city where I live(with my parents) there is a huge demand on housing for students. The first option is to purchase my first property, I am thinking about a 3 bedroom appartment. I will live in 1 room and rent the other 2 out and I will be able to live for free and make a tiny profit and Ill be able to build my real estate portfolio from there. The second option is that I will save up around €20,000, sell my car, which is worth around €5,000 and quit my job and go backpacking for a year in Middle and South America, New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. After I return in about a year or so I want to get back into my job as a truck driver and start saving up to do the house hacking and acquire more properties.

I am not sure what to do and was wondering if anyone wanted to share his or her opinion about it. Excuse me if my english is not 100% correct, english is not my first language.
