Foundational REI Knowledge
My goal for 2019 is to build my foundation of REI knowledge by studying one topic in depth each month. I will be blocking out enough time each day that I can read 6-8 books per month, plus online resources. I have already purchased all of the BiggerPockets books (thanks Black Friday sale!). As I learn each topic, my goal is to use that information to create my investing business plan, and design procedures and scalable systems for each aspect from acquisition through exit strategies.
I would like some help from experienced investors as I decide what my 12 topics should be. I don't need to know everything, but I want to have a thorough knowledge of the basics. So far I have:
- Networking
- Marketing
- Negotiation
- Rehab costs
- Financing
- Options
- What are lenders looking for?
- Negotiable terms for closing a deal
- Property management
- tenant screening
- tenant retention
- value add
- Market economics
- Cash Flow management???
- Managing people???
- ???
- ???
- ???
What other topics should I add? Any suggestions for [non-BP] books or other resources I can devour for each topic?
Your input is appreciated, and hopefully will be useful to BP-ers other than myself.
