Scared of borrowing from hard money lenders and not make profit

I’m scared of being in debt from a money lender and also using the money and having to pay on a property and not make a profit from it. Also doing miscalculations of percentages that is owed back to the money lender and the whole paper work of legalities. How can I be confident? I have been listening to bigger pockets for over 3 months and am still not confident.

Can anyone help?...

Best,

Giovanni( active duty coast guard)
