Question about material to help educate girlfriend on REI?

Question

Hey folks!

So, my girlfriend is apparently pretty interested in learning about REI. I knew she was very supportive, but didn't realize she was genuinely interested. Was so excited to find out!

So, I am trying to figure out how to best introduce her. I am a math/finance/stats/numbers person. I have a bachelor's in mathematics. So, my brain works like that. She is not a math/numbers person so much. That is totally fine! We each have strengths.

My question is this:

What books, blog posts (on BP or not), forum threads do you all know of that would be a good way to really get her up to speed on how REI works? This stuff just clicks with my brain. She is very smart. She is an amazing, hard-working nurse. Just wasn't sure if you all had any recommendations? I am not sure just throwing J. Scott's books or Brandon's books at her would work the best... so I am trying to figure out how to introduce it to her in pieces so I don't overwhelm her. I can be a bit overwhelming when I get excited... so of course I want to give her ALL the books and send links to ALL the blog posts I like... but that won't work the same with her. I will have 30 tabs open in Chrome for 30 different threads I am reading or blog posts and all that... she doesn't like taking in information in that fashion. It is too much at once.

I'm really excited to bring her into all this! I'm not having to get her on board with the idea of me/us doing this. She likes what I have shown her... the numbers... the potential future. Just more on educating her.

Ahhh! Yes! You worded it so much better! Everyone read what he said. It's what u was trying to say. I'm also stuck on where to start. You worded it so perfectly. I'm also worried about how I introduce everything. The math will make her eyes glaze over at first. I feel like once she gains more understanding and interest through that understanding, she won't be so put off by the math side. Ditto on keeping me in the loop as well if you come across something that helps.

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" seems like an obvious starting choice. Not mathy at all. But introduces the passive income mindset.

@Caleb Heimsoth, I'm always happy to see you pop up in my notifications. You have good advice/experience. That is a good idea as well. We just kinda butt heads when trying to actually teach each other anything... haha It's ridiculous, but it is a thing.She has been fine with us listening to BP podcasts, so she is getting some info there. I need to go through the listings and see which ones seem like they might be the best for her as a kind of introduction.

Brian H. Have you considered just teaching her some basics yourself? You can help her understand the bank says to underwrite a deal, or things like mortgage terms or what not. From there she can listen to podcasts or read and learn a lot more

I am literally in the same exact situation as you have previously described (Gf's a nurse, interested in the concept, doesn't deal well with information overload or advanced math/numbers, but truly is starting to understand the benefits of passive income, etc)If you wouldn't mind keeping me in the loop and letting me know what you decide to do it would be much appreciated upon my behalf. Thanks Steve! I feel like shorter readable items like blog posts and forum threads are best to start. Just little "snippits" to let her slowly wade in. That's why I was wondering if people has any specific blog posts or threads they remembered and recommended.
