I need some direction.
Hello BP!
I am a recent college grad in Political Science. I am looking for a way to learn how to analyze investment deals. I am in the process of trying to get a job at a real estate firm here in San Antonio, and some knowledge is preferred. Will working for a real estate company as a realtor gain me this experience. I am done with my license in two months, or can knowledge be gained through books/podcast? As well I plan on going to San Antonio's next RENC meet up. What should I expect? The CEO happens to be my friend and wants me to figure out how I can fit in the company so I just want to improve my chances and bring something of value to an already established team.
Very Respectfully,
Chanel A

Welcome to the beginning of your real estate investing career, @Chanel Anderson! I started as a realtor with hopes of getting into investing also, but found that more of my time is tied up with buyer/ seller transactions that actually learning how to invest. Plus, I found that having my license can be a hinderance when trying to get off market deals. The podcasts have taught me more than getting my license ever did and you can use the form on this website to analyze deals quickly
I’d definitely recommend to start networking with local real estate associations. Alamo Reia is my favorite - this Thursday I can bring a guest free so let me know if you want to check it out! I’ve been to renc and wasn’t too fond of that one and the luncheons at SAREIA are the best. Feel free to reach out directly if you have any specific questions and good luck starting your journey!
