Rental Property in Raleigh, NC
Hello,
I am living in Singapore and I want to buy a rental property in Raleigh, NC. I don't have any particular fascination for Raleigh, so i want to ask two questions from the experienced pros here.
1. Is Raleigh a good choice from a cash on cash return perspective? I am looking at a positive cash flow property, but i am not sure what are the good areas in Raleigh. Logically speaking, i am sure areas around RTP will fetch good rentals but it would be great if someone who is familiar with the market can throw more light on the other good zip codes there which are not very expensive and fetch good rentals. I am looking at starting small in the range of USD 150-175K.
2. I am also looking for recommendations for a good, honest real estate agent cum property manager as i am in Singapore and won't be returning to the US in the near term.
Cheers,
Suren.

I can't speak as much to Winston Salem, but as a resident of Greensboro for over 20 years, I can attest that it is still a relatively well kept secret and you would be able to find a solid rental in your price range in nearly every corner of the city. If you do decide to start looking in Greensboro, some of the best subdivisions are Kirkwood, College Hill, Sunset Hills, Lake Daniel, Lindley Park, Friendly Homes, Green Valley, Starmount Forest, Friendly Acres, and Westridge Heights, to name a few. You may even have success in a few of the suburbs such as Summerfield or Browns Summit. Anything in Northwest Guilford or Northern Guilford school district will be highly desirable, Grimsley and parts of Page, and the majoriy of Western Guilford Highschool district will be your bread and butter. Greensboro also has four colleges. I normally use UNCG and West Gate City boulevard as the southern-most point that you should go if you want to attract quality tenants.
