Do I need a copy of the deed?
Hello all!
I just closed on my first deal, a live-in duplex, back in November. Yesterday I received a letter from some place called the "Local Records Office" offering a copy of the deed and other documents for an $89 processing fee.
Is this service necessary? It says on the letter that I can go to the county courthouse to get the deed and that this particular service isn't affiliated with the government at all.
As a follow-up question, do I even need a hard copy of the deed for any reason?
Thanks,
Caleb
