Driving for dollar question

I've been driving around and running into a lot of vacant houses, some even burned down or completely boarded up. Then when I go to the city website to see who own these houses, some of the property are own by company, LLC and banks. My question is do I still direct mail the LLC and company inquiring about buying the house, and how should I go about doing it? Obviously I can't mail the bank so I know that will either go to auction or foreclosure which is too bad i can't get to it first.

Side note, if anyone is looking for wholesaling deals or house that are pretty cheap (compare to the local market) I think Alaska as a lot of upside, just not a lot of investors. I would love to see more wholesalers and investors.
