Real Estate Investment Mentorship/Advice in Washington DC Area
Hi,
I am interested in getting started in real estate investing in the DC/VA area. Although I am from the Northern Virginia area, I have been looking for properties in Richmond, VA (because it's more affordable) as well as in the DC area. I am looking to buy my first property soon, but I am unsure of where to start. I have been reading a bunch of books on real estate investing but would still love to talk to someone who has experience with real estate investments in one of these markets. Would anyone be willing to talk about their experiences in Richmond/DC and potentially provide mentorship? I would really appreciate any help anyone would be willing to provide! Thank you in advance!

You should try going to meetups and REIA's in your area. Dan Rochon has a great meetup in Springfield. Andre Johnson's meetup at National Harbor is great as is Greg Bennett's in Greenbelt. There's also one in Falls Church at a KW office hosted by Washington Capital Partners.
You can (and should) listen to the multitude of podcasts here on BP and read read read posts and blogs to get a good sense of where to go and what to do, but there's no substitute for going out and meeting lenders, Realtors and investors who will freely give you advice or may even JV with you to make a deal work.
Happy investing,
Stephanie
