New to the community and the world of real estate;

I'm currently residing in Ohio in the north west of the state .With so much info out there I'm would like to know what' steps should I take to prep my self to get ready for my fist deal in real estate. I'm thinking fix and filp my first two deals (like back to back)...I keep seeing homes on forclouser sites.. I say in about 11 or 12 months I'll start by this time I can work my negative credit score up from a scary mid 500 and have sum capital set aside to use as a down payment and for rehab.. just would like to be referd to a few good books pod cats YouTube videos etc..I'm currently attending the real estate meets here but they are once a month.
