How can one get skin in the game?

As an entrepreneur starting from zero, I am plagued with fraudulent people. It is hard to differentiate fact from fiction. It doesn't sound too good to be true to me for someone else to put up all the money for deals. But..Apparently it is a sin to have no skin to put in the game. Wanting not to sin, I must come up with some cash; skin. Okay so there's none lying around anywhere. I'm earning just a little, but not enough, and it may not last. Someone has money they'd like to earn 8-10% on. Why would they lend it to me though? Unlicensed, unaccredited, inexperienced, unprepared, a sinner because I'm broke, not the sharpest tool in the shed I admit. HOW IS A PERSON TO GET SKIN IN THE GAME???
