Realtor at 18?
Hey all,
Had something that I'd like to get some input on. I've recently been considering getting my realtor's license and using that as a way to get involved in the RE community while also building some capital and reputation. I'm only 18, and I'm not sure if that is an advantage or disadvantage, most likely both. What are your thoughts on this? Any insight or advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
-Nathan

What I've found is that there are almost as many pros as there are cons to being young. Granted, you will have naysayers who will joke at you for being a young guy (trust me), your enthusiasm at a young age will bring people to want to invest in your future. People who are older than you naturally want to invest generational knowledge into younger generations.
We play up the fact that we are a new contracting company because everyone else is sick of the 'random dude in a pickup with holes in his shirt' image they get when they think of a contractor. So, we brand ourselves (because we are) as a cutting edge company, embracing the old way of doing things right through the avenue of the latest technology.
I think you'll do great. Outwork the oldest guy in the office, and be the guy who breaks the lazy millennial mold, and you'll stick out twice as much. Everyone expects a baby boomer to work hard, not everyone expects us to do the same.
Sorry for the book. I get so pumped thinking about what a few good apples can do for our generation! Good luck man!
