Finding a mentor in Houston // starting out need advise

Hello BP,

I just received contact information for a local wholesaler here in Houston and I want to ask for his help with getting my foot in the door. How do I ask for help from someone to make it worth his time? I keep thinking, why would he help me, it would mean there would be one more person in the Houston area that he would have to worry about possibly taking a deal from him.  Any advise would help.
