What are Intermediaries??

Hi Guys,
I'm new to real estate and I'm hearing about these intermediaries (also called consultants) who say their job is to match buyers and sellers. They're neither brokers or investors. What exactly is it that intermediaries do? Are they required to be licensed? Are they regulated?

Dave -
Most of them are simply BS artists. I'd focus on other parts of real estate than the Bulk REO fantasy land. There are many ways to do well in real estate, and playing games with people who are full of it is just a waste of time.
