Purchasing Ft. Hood Rentals
Hi everyone!
I recently moved to the north Austin area and am interested in purchasing some rentals in the Killeen/Copperas Cove area. I've heard that renting to AD military can sometimes come with headaches. With the silly low home prices in that area, it's almost too good to pass up. Any advice/knowledge dealing with military rentals would be super helpful.
I'm a former Marine and have my real estate license in PA, so I'm familiar with both residential transactions and the BAH pay structure. Like I said before, any and all help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am a realtor in Austin and currently have two SF rentals in Killeen.
I agree with Brian Adams evaluation of the Killeen market, especially the comments about property management. I have used a three PM's and have talked to a lot more. After many conversations I have found a PM that I am pleased with. The owner is ex-military, they charge less than the others and do a great job. There are no hidden fees and if the house you are renting is in good shape they have little or no reserve requirements. They have found quality tenants for my properties within 30 days where other PM's couldn't find anyone for months. They visit each property twice a year to inspect and look for issues. Billing and statements arrive on time and are accurate.
