At What Point Do I Not Have to Pay PMI?

Hey!

I have made an offer on what will be my first property, an owner occupied duplex. Of course along with principal and interest comes PMI (along with many other monthly expenses).

Say I acquire at least one 2-4 unit property a year.

QUESTION: At what point do I not have to get pmi when buying investments?

Thanks in advance.

So long as you place at least 20% down, there is no PMI.

In some cases, with some lenders, they may offer loans in excess of 80% LTV with no PMI.

For non-owner occupied loans right now, you will need to place a minimum of 25% down so PMI is not a factor due to the lower LTV.
