Finally taken the advice of countless hours of podcasts!
So here goes nothing!
I have been listening to the podcasts for the past year or so, and so it seems that might be a great place to get some help!
I want to own a few houses that rent so that i can be financially secure. I want to do it in NZ but im currently living in Qatar so im nervous about investing in something i cant easily be involved with personally. I had a dream 8 years ago to get a flat and have it rented out and have someone else paying down my mortgage and with whats happened with the Auckland market and currency im kicking myself that i didn't!
I dont really know whats the best thing to do, im thinking at the moment save money whilst im here for a deposit then when i move there in about 3 years to start when im there and feet on the ground.
I know that this site is largely based in the US but any help would be huge.
Thanks in advance
Simon

Simon, your first sentence summed it up, learning with podcasts and "here goes nothing"! I have no clue what is legal or ethical in NZ, much will be same or similar due to international business and accounting requirements.
There is a saying in RE, "All real estate is local" so you need to learn the basics of real estate in NZ before trying to deal in real estate.
You're going down a very rough road trying to learn RE out of country, then deal in another country.
Just remember, when you have to rely on other people your investment risk increases. :)
