Investing in US from abroad

Hi i just wanted to ask are there people here who live out side of the states that do business in the states from their home country?

I am thinking about buy & hold and then renting for a foreigner for example? what are the implications and hoops to get started?

Have been thinking about this and if anyone would be willing to give me pointers about how best to set this up and so on please do not hesitate to send me a pm.
