New Maryland Investor: Advice on Flipping Appreciated

I'm a newbie and I am on my way to becoming a full time investor (starting out with flipping and eventually moving into buy and hold). I have read multiple books, listened to many podcasts (thanks BP!). I am going to attend several REIA meetings. I have a great paying job, great credit, and about $60K in cash. Ideally, I would love to find an experienced flipper to learn the business from and I would be willing to help them out anyway that I could...be that with my time or money. My question is this: should I continue to seek out an experienced investor who is willing to help mentor me in exchange for me helping them. (By mentoring, I don't mean holding my hand; I have done a lot of research and am fairly smart (or so I like to think 😀) but you obviously can't learn everything from books and research.) Or should I just jump out on my own and try to figure things out as I go? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Joe
