I'm looking at create an online presence starting with a website and I would like to know what options are out there? Do you self host sites or do you use background services like Wordpress? Those are 2 different things. Hosting merely means that a company (or yourself) holds your files and the Internet knows where to find them.

Wordpress, Drupal, etc. are content management systems and are one of the ways you can build a website. Any CMS or other type of web design will still have to be hosted somewhere.

Often, website hosting companies also offer website building services, but understand that they are different things... those packages are often ridiculously priced (yes GoDaddy, I'm talking to you).
