Hi All,

I am looking to learn from your mistakes / shortcomings! Please respond with something you wish you knew when you started your REI adventures which caused you major headaches later.

Thank you!

Well, in my case, it wasn't necessarily RE-related. This is before I began my restart...

My marriage broke up in 2009 and during the settlement I pretty much gave her (almost) everything she wanted.

Then, I wound up being out work for over a year.

The divorce cost me half my life savings. Being out of work took the other half.

Had I known then what I've learned since about retirement accounts from my REI classes, I could have preserved the bulk of my savings and still survived being out of work for 58 weeks.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but my version of "If I knew then what I know now, ..."
