How to get started with lack of capital?

Relocating to Memphis TN later this summer and will be making a career change. I plan to get my agent license but would also love to get started with real estate investment. I have a strong product, business and technical background in digital media and marketing. I have the confidence that I can learn the industry in order to to be successful, however, I am concerned about my lack of (zero) capital to purchase homes, services and materials in the beginning. Is it really possible to start with zero capital and be successful? I know private money is an option, but my network of private investors is small and new to the industry if they are interested at all. As I said, I understand and am willing to put in the work necessary to be successful, but not sure how to start without the intro capital. Any help is greatly appreciated.
