Investing Overseas Basics?

My fiance and I are contemplating moving overseas to the UK for a couple years after we graduate college. I would love to bring my real estate goals of holding small multi-families and using a few flips a years to leverage my portfolio over there, but I don't know if there are going to be a lot of major differences in laws, regulations, and strategy that can screw me up. How does investing overseas differ from investing here in the US, and how well would my goal fit into that scene? I would appreciate any insight and experiences that anybody has on the subject.
