Focus Topics in the Beginning

Given the amount of information available to the new investor, it is easy to see why so many never take the first step because they try to learn everything before doing anything and perhaps get discouraged or overwhelmed.

I listened to an episode of the "Just Start Real Estate Podcast" and they made a good point that you should only focus on what you need to know to get off the ground and maybe one step ahead of that.  The rest will fall into place as you move forward.  i will admit, i am the type that feels the need to have everything worked out at the start, so it seems a little "off" to approach RE investing in this manner bc its not normally how i approach new things.

BUT, it does still appear to be sensible advice, so are the following topics where i need to be placing my focus at this stage (beginner, no deals yet)?

  • Investing plan/strategy
  • Raising money/financing options
  • finding good deals
  • contracts needed to actually buy your first deals
  • team building

Should i also consider others at this stage?  (I'm interested in flipping)

Thanks!!

I just want to say thanks for posting this because this post touches on some things I have been thinking about lately.

I'm a person like you in that I can get bogged down in details and plans before taking the first step. Which is fine sometimes but other times I use it as a crutch to not jump in and try things out.

I've been thinking about trying to focus on the one thing that seems like the most important to get right and finding great deals seems like the place to focus on. Everything seems to stem from there.

So, now all I have to worry about is finding great deals. Good luck.
