New Investor Greater Boston Area Help!
Hey all,
I am looking to enter the glorious world of real estate investing! Being from the Greater Boston area, pricing of the homes are obviously steep. What suggestions would you guys have in trying to start off to best work around these obstacles? As I wont be able to cash buy, or gather enough for a cash buy from family and friends, is my only solution a traditional mortgage?
I am interested in rental properties as my long-term solution, and possibly flips (again, tough with pricing of homes in the area).
I have been listening to the podcasts and beginning to read up on the subject and would like to make my first purchase by years end.
Any help/suggestions on this topic is greatly appreciated!
Thanks - AD

Hi Anthony, welcome to BP.
This is a great place to learn. Make sure to listen to all the BP podcasts, read the articles on the main blog and be active in these forums to learn a ton very quickly about any topic in real estate you want to know more about.
This is also a great place to meet people that can be assets to your business. Lots of great connections all over but we also have a very strong and active contingent here in MA on here so make sure to find them (Set up some keyword alerts to find out about local topics) and get connected.
Besides doing that on here make sure to get out to some of the many local investor events we have. You are in a pretty decent spot for that. There is one right in Peabody and a couple other North shore ones in Danvers and Saugus a couple of those are @Mike Hurney 's so he can give you more details. Staying north but going out a little more there is a good one Chelmsford (The NEREIA which happens to be tomorrow/Wednesday) and one in Nashua, and @Justin Silverio runs a good quarterly meetup in Reading. Going towards Boston there is the Boston Area REIA in Medford and my personal favorite the Black Diamond meeting in Waltham which @Ann Bellamy runs with her partners.
