REI meetings in upstate NY - Albany area

  I'm new to this, so wanted to introduce myself. :)

Also I wanted to see if anyone could recommend any REI meetings in the area. I have looked, but phone #'s seem to be disconnected and e-mails are returned.

Welcome to the group.  There is an investors club that meets every third Monday of the month at the Holiday Inn in Latham.  I found them on this Meetup site.  I too am new at this and plan on attending the November meeting.  Maybe I'll see you there!  Good luck with everything.
