Have 300k but do not know what to do with it

I currently have 300k but recently lost my job. I have no income as of now and spend around 2 thousand a month in rent and other expenses (i.e. two months later I now have 298k left to invest). The money is not invested in anything. I am looking to either invest in real-estate or start a business.

As far as my needs go:

After 1 year: I would like to be making at least 75k per year, not work more than 35 hours a week, maintain enough mobility that I will be able to travel from my workplace to another city for up to 2 weeks before returning to my workplace.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

@Jacob Branch   when you make a post on BP like this you mine as well put a big target on your back

You will soon get in no particular order

1. response from west coast marketing folks stating that they only invest out of state so you should live were you want and invest were it makes sense IE were they make a commission

2. Hey check out this market its hot

3. numerous private e mails from folks pitching there deals.

take it all in with a grain of salt... and be smart remember most on BP that offer anything are doing it for profit not good will or altruism
