Starting Out, Looking for advice for a general plan

Hello!

My situation currently is I am a 21-year-old senior in mechanical engineering and will be graduating in May. I live with my girlfriend, and she will be starting law school at no expense. I am currently working for a company as an intern but am hoping to land a full-time role come August making 70-80k. We are thinking we will be able to accumulate 50k in savings by August and would like to possibly use that money on a down payment on a home, which we will live in for three years then rent out when she graduates and make extra cash flow off of. After graduation, well use our income as a lawyer and engineer to hopefully get more properties and be able to retire early.  So far, I have just been reading "How to Invest in Real Estate: The Ultimate Beginner's Guide to Getting Started" and trying to figure everything out so I can be prepared. We have both been building our credit score since 18. Looking for feedback and any helpful tips to starting the process. What would you do if you were in my position?
