How do you pay your GC? Do you pay a downpayment? What percentage of the total cost do you pay and how many draws do you use?

Thank you!

I gave my GC a $1000 down payment, which was a small percentage of the total contractor costs.  He paid for all the rough materials, LED recessed lights and obtained permits. I did buy the kitchen cabinets, countertops, bathroom vanities and faucet fixtures, light fixtures and door knobs.  There were at least 29 draws and I would inspect the work done before paying. It was my first renovation, haven't done another one yet.
