New to the community/ Looking for advice and books to check out

Hello I'm new to the community of BP and wanted to introduce myself. I've lived in the Acadiana area for most of my life. I don't have any experience in real estate but really want to jump in and start learning to be able to build a career in something I have had an interest in since I was young. My goal is to create a portfolio of long term rentals consisting of single family homes and multi-family homes; eventually being able to move into small to medium sized apartment complexes.  Any advice and books to check out would be greatly appreciated!

I would start with a house hack. You can easily get your feet wet in real estate investing and learn how to be a landlord. I would check out the house hacking strategy book by craig curelop. After living in the property for a year, you are able to move out and do it again while either still renting out the first property or selling it and buying a larger more expensive property.
