New to Real Estate and Looking to Connect

Hello everyone, 

My name is Markus Stevenson and I reside in Houston, Texas. Currently, my girlfriend and I both work in the software industry and we're looking to begin diving into the world of real estate investing in the upcoming months. While I've done some research individually, I understand that I have a lot more to learn as this is a very detailed field.
With that being said, I'd love to connect with others in this forum to learn about what has allowed you to experience success in real estate. Whether it's properties based in Houston or elsewhere, I'd love to gain more insight on markets where we could potentially see success.  Additionally, I'm open to connecting regarding other business-related topics as I'd love to gain insight on other ways to generate income.

Hey Markus

Congrats on starting your real estate journey and welcome to the BiggerPockets family!

You already have a good concept of where you need to be focusing your efforts when getting started: Networking and Education

posting in the forums like you've already done is gonna be a great way for you to tackle the networking aspect, and BiggerPockets has a lot of great educational resources (books, bootcamps). 

My only other suggestion and source I use myself to stay educated on the current market is the On the Market podcast and BiggerPockets Daily podcast. On the market is affiliated with BiggerPockets and always has great guests and topics relevant to the current market, and BP Daily is great for something quick and easy to digest (5 min average) with your morning coffee. 

A recent and really insightful look into the upcoming year/market was a podcast from On the Market called The 8 Worst and Best Housing Markets in The US (2023 Edition), and definitely worth a listen.
