Hello everyone,

I’m currently in the process of relocating to the San Francisco/Bay Area and would greatly appreciate any personal recommendations for strong real estate agents or apartment locators in the region.

I’m ideally looking for a 2-bedroom, 2-bath or possibly a 3-bedroom, 2-bath property. My focus is primarily on renting condos or townhomes, but I’m also open to purchasing if the right deal comes along.

If you’ve worked with someone exceptional or know of great resources, I’d love to hear about it.

It's definitely a great idea to start networking and educating yourself in the Real Estate field. BiggerPockets offers a lot of great resources to help you get started, but don't forget to check out the On the Market podcast and BiggerPockets Daily podcast for some extra insight on current market conditions. These podcasts can help you stay up to date on Real Estate news, trends, and general information that will be incredibly valuable throughout your journey! Good luck!

Thanks for the insight, Jay! Both of those resources look great and I look forward to diving in on these platforms to learn everything that I can. I appreciate you sharing this with me and I wish you the best of luck on your upcoming projects!

Nothing beats the overwhelming excitement of getting started! Welcome to the family! Now the fun (and hard part begins). Here's my suggestions:

1. Read. Learn. Invest in yourself.

2. Partner. Find an agent who is investor-friendly.

3. Do due diligence (run your numbers, find deals, analyze properties)

4. Build routines (no different than dieting, working out, etc.)

5. Pull the trigger.

6. Learn from your mistakes.

7. Make better decisions.

8. Continue to leverage and build your generational, wealth-building portfolio!

Here to always help or lend an ear if you need it! :) Cheers!

Most definitely!! I'm very excited to get started and I appreciate you sharing these steps with me. I'll begin to apply these and I'll reach out for more insight. I'd love to learn what has allowed you to experience success in this field.

Hello everyone,

My name is Markus Stevenson and I reside in Houston, Texas. Currently, my girlfriend and I both work in the software industry and we're looking to begin diving into the world of real estate investing in the upcoming months. While I've done some research individually, I understand that I have a lot more to learn as this is a very detailed field.
With that being said, I'd love to connect with others in this forum to learn about what has allowed you to experience success in real estate. Whether it's properties based in Houston or elsewhere, I'd love to gain more insight on markets where we could potentially see success.  Additionally, I'm open to connecting regarding other business-related topics as I'd love to gain insight on other ways to generate income.

Welcome! Another Houston type here, I focus mainly on Houston's southside and Galveston. After investing in my first property, my realtor and I started our own investing business and now we are both realtor partners and investor partners. This stuff is addicting so enjoy the ride!

Hey Karl,

Thanks for the warm welcome and it's great to see someone else in the area! I'm loving what I see so far and I'd love to connect to learn about your experience in this realm.

Hey Markus

Congrats on starting your real estate journey and welcome to the BiggerPockets family!

You already have a good concept of where you need to be focusing your efforts when getting started: Networking and Education

posting in the forums like you've already done is gonna be a great way for you to tackle the networking aspect, and BiggerPockets has a lot of great educational resources (books, bootcamps).

My only other suggestion and source I use myself to stay educated on the current market is the On the Market podcast and BiggerPockets Daily podcast. On the market is affiliated with BiggerPockets and always has great guests and topics relevant to the current market, and BP Daily is great for something quick and easy to digest (5 min average) with your morning coffee.

A recent and really insightful look into the upcoming year/market was a podcast from On the Market called The 8 Worst and Best Housing Markets in The US (2023 Edition), and definitely worth a listen.

Hope that helps, best of luck 🤝🍀

Thanks for the warm welcome, Ryan! It's great to connect and I appreciate you taking the time to share these amazing resources with me. From what I've seen so far, there's a lot of great gems and I'll make sure to tune into the podcasts!
