Beginning my real estate journey!

Hi everyone,

I'm a college senior who is in the education stage of my real estate investing career. I'm looking to build a multi family portfolio, and plan to begin by house hacking a duplex or triplex, financed with an FHA loan, hopefully doing my first deal by the end of next year. I will be working in NYC but would like to live in NJ, preferably within an hour of the city. My main question is, how do I identify the best NJ submarket to look for properties? I know it might be tough to find a deal with the right price tag, as NJ is a higher priced state. Also, what is the best way to meet real estate agents, lenders, lawyers, property managers…?

Happy to be a part of the Bigger Pockets community!

Thanks!
