Newbie looking for a little direction

I am a young plumbing/HVAC contractor (I don't own my own company yet) looking for a little advice for what direction or steps I should be taking to break into the GC/property management part of this industry. I genuinely love real estate, I don't think a day has gone by in the past 5 years where I haven't looked through the MLS in my free time. I know this is where I want to be eventually owning and managing properties. My goal is not to retire young. I love waking up, going to work and using my hands. If there is anyone on here who was in my position at some point I would appreciate any and all insight.

Thank you
