Is it a good idea to get an LLC when getting started?

Hey ,

So i am brand new to the world of real estate and recently bought my first two family. I was just wondering if it would be a good idea to get an LLC before i started to get more investment properties?

Thank you!

I often wonder who is peddling this solution to new investors.

Why would you want to spend a lot of money on consulting lawyers and forming LLC's when you could use those funds to actually invest in real estate?

Unless you have a good reason for using an LLC, you are simply spending money on a novelty that in the end makes it harder for you to borrow money. Make sure you obtain the proper insurance policies - landlord + personal umbrella - and in 99 out of 100 cases you will be set without additional annual fees and tax filing headaches.
