Needing a Virtual Assistant

I'm needing a virtual assistant to research prospects for my day job, then email those prospects a "pitch" that I have created.  When there are replies to that pitch from some of those prospects expressing interest, then I can take it from there and close the deal.

I tried two virtual assistant companies from India, recommended by Tim Ferriss in the Four Hour Work Week, Brickwork and Your Man in India, neither of them worked out.  One of them never emailed me back after saying they would, and the other was befuddled and couldn't get their act together after 1 month of trying.

I then tried a US Based company, called CIENCE.   They have a great solution, but they want $5k per month, and I was looking to spend $100 to $300 per month and if I see a return on that monthly investment, then expand.

I'm thankful if anyone has suggestions.
