I can't seem to get the mention feature to work within the iPhone iOS app. Is this a feature that is not available in the app?

I was looking to mention @Ed O. in a post and for some reason his name doesn't populate the list the comes up. Lots of others but not his name. I saw that Phillip Dwyer was able to mention Ed though.
