Over 90% of the textile industry from US has been offshored.

I am watching it bring new life to towns that have been on a downward slide since textiles, steel and other big industries were shut down or moved over seas. 

A little bit about myself...I was born and raised in Westchester, NY (about 45 minutes north of Manhattan) and currently have a career in Interior Design & Textile Sales, with an extensive background in residential design & construction.

Many did mill and factory work- jewelry and textile so you see the multifamily in places like Central Falls, Pawtucket, parts of Providence, Cranston, West Warwick, etc.

My dad owned and ran a small local textile factory making shirts that he sold to business contacts in Germany.

Professional technicians also utilize units designed to treat those hard to reach areas, such as crevices or the insides of walls.Softer items in the home such as upholstery, clothing, bedding, or other textiles may be more resistant to odor removal techniques.

At the micro level....Food, clothing and shelter being the main three required anywhere.IMO, in hard times, such as the Great Depression, people will "make do", clothing and textiles are products that can be ignored by most consumers, items owned can be repaired, traded and fabricated from other items, like Scarlet's gown from drapes.

It is a historic area that previously had many textile mills there and lots of duplexes were built for housing the textile workers. 

Same as all of the cities that used to be based around one steel mill or textile mill.
