Especially in a market like mine, we've been in majority of the listings and the sold comps, or if not, we've likely talked with an agent/buyer/inspector/etc who has and has given us the bullet points.

For example, talked to someone the other day and find out about a cabinet supplier I didn't know of that should save us quite a bit without sacrificing quality at all.

You can not only google it, but you can find some really good videos on youtube that specifically talk about asset protection. 

I am trying to buy a duplex and I have talked to the owner (built rapport) and got info from the city tax records, county clerk and google earth street views of the property plus neighbor properties.  

The people you talk to today are going to be your sales in a year or two.
