We don’t need proof where payroll is deposited, we do need tax returns and finds to close need to be deposited by in a US bank 10 days before closing. 

Do you pop the top, build a floor plan you want in the future and then put renter proof flooring, cabinets, paint, appliances, etc in and wait?

Ask your lawyer about adverse possession and also if you have receipts and proof you paid for the home, see if that would make a difference too.
