Are there any alternatives or other routes I can take then not being able to qualify?

Some landlords that I spoke with are looking into alternative screening techniques (ex. accepting based on bank account activity history vs credit report) to rent out properties nowadays. 

The alternative would be to extend the contract closing date until the VA has a SWD approved to close (but there is no timeframe for that).

I would suggest shopping around until you find that one that can offer you more benefits than just being a place to hold your alternative assets!

The way the decisions are made, the alternatives not being clearly defined, the costs and benefits not accurately weighed.

Alternatively, only bid or make offers on properties where you can do your full due diligence.

Before selling, consider your alternatives, ie cash out refi, etc.

An alternative I thought of was buying a large amount of land and having a small building constructed and then sectioning it off using a smaller loan and then having more buildings added as I go.
