HIGHLY highly agree with Poor Charlie's Almanack, that's one of the most influential books i've ever read. if you don't feel like shelling out a lot of cash for the book (it's a little on the pricey side), then I would at least go with his famous speech "The Psychology of Human Misjudgment".

These are all reasonably corruption free which should be a major consideration.Obviously, you have to keep repression, communism, socialism, and all the other “ism’s” in mind when you search since these all tend to inhibit economic growth; not to mention human rights.
