This comes directly from the IRS website and was the result of a court case:"For example, In Smith v Commissioner, 300 F 3d 1023 (9th Cir. 2002), the court concluded that the replacement of the aluminum smelting cell lining was a replacement of an essential component of the cell, extending the life of the cell and requiring capitalization."

Especially with sewer lines the technology has really advanced and by staying on top of the system with regular inspections you may be able to use a technique such as pipe lining before total replacement is necessary.

Josh,Just a guess, but I'm betting that the width of the menu system on the right hand side is set by this category: "Real Estate Technology and the Internet".I don't see the harm in having a line break before the word "and" there; it would make that sub-menu double in height - but so what.Or, shorten some of the wording, to something like this: "Real Estate Tech & the 'Net".Either of those would make the menu system narrower if my hunch is correct in how this is determined.
