Basically, 50% of one months rent to get it ready for the next tenant.Juxtapose that with a $300/month tenant and you end up with people bolting (not paying rent), leaving a crock pot cooking, drywall with holes in it, darn close to a full repaint, screens for windows have vanished, the screen door has a whole in it, and inevitably some light fixture or ceiling fan is broken.

...taking another look, here's another idea (this is actually pretty big in Denver)...Call up various food truck vendors in your area and "sell" them a spot for their truck on certain days of the week.If the location is near various office buildings, lease the spot to the food truck vendors for the lunchtime crowds.

Thought this was a good read from CRAIN'S A Glenview lawyer sued Zillow, alleging that the real estate site's relatively modest estimate of her home's value has created a "roadblock" to selling at what she thinks it's worth.Zillow's estimate, known by the trade name "Zestimate," is "effectively a sloppy computer-driven appraisal" of the value of her home, Barbara Andersen says in a complaint suit she filed late last week in Cook County Circuit Court.
